Is wiping over socks (masah) valid, and for how long?
Answer
Masah is valid over leather socks (khuffayn) that cover the ankles and can be walked in. The duration is 24 hours for a resident and 72 hours for a traveller, counted from the first nullification of wudu after wearing them. Ordinary thin cloth or nylon socks do not meet the conditions for masah in the Hanafi school.
